India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.15%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Banking and Technology sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.15% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.24%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS), which rose 3.33% or 59.45 points to trade at 1,842.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 3.05% or 219.85 points to end at 7,420.00 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 2.67% or 46.75 points to 1,800.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which fell 2.55% or 17.85 points to trade at 683.50 at the close. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) declined 2.32% or 163.35 points to end at 6,868.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was down 1.67% or 18.55 points to 1,092.80.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 3.26% to 1,840.50, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 2.77% to settle at 7,405.90 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 2.72% to close at 1,799.75.

The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 1.51% to 1,092.60 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 1.45% to settle at 410.35 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.18% to 2,773.05 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1492 to 997 and 28 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2191 fell and 1691 advanced, while 138 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.26% or 58.05 to 1,840.50. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to all time highs; rising 2.72% or 47.60 to 1,799.75.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.17% to 14.09.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.23% or 5.80 to $2,533.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.22% or 0.16 to hit $73.39 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.12 to trade at $76.81 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.05% to 83.93, while EUR/INR rose 0.25% to 92.90.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 101.59.
