Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Auto and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.79%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.98%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 1.31% or 24.75 points to trade at 1,918.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 1.10% or 3.20 points to end at 295.25 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was up 0.93% or 6.55 points to 708.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which fell 3.59% or 112.40 points to trade at 3,017.45 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 2.99% or 222.50 points to end at 7,211.35 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) was down 2.87% or 76.70 points to 2,598.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 1.39% to 1,919.45, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 0.94% to settle at 934.75 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 0.82% to close at 534.25.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 3.65% to 3,015.00 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 2.83% to settle at 7,223.00 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 2.36% to 3,075.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1734 to 761 and 104 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2265 fell and 1509 advanced, while 101 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.28% to 14.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.25 to $2,678.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.59% or 1.17 to hit $74.88 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.56% or 1.21 to trade at $78.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 83.97, while EUR/INR fell 0.05% to 92.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 101.64.
