Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Auto sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 2.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 2.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which rose 1.15% or 11.80 points to trade at 1,039.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) added 0.12% or 6.50 points to end at 5,430.30 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 0.03% or 0.10 points to 292.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which fell 5.27% or 19.40 points to trade at 348.85 at the close. Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) declined 4.51% or 160.90 points to end at 3,409.50 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was down 4.27% or 155.85 points to 3,497.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which rose 1.13% to 1,039.35, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 167.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 0.35% to close at 1,912.75.
The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 3.95% to 3,507.10 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 3.93% to settle at 2,814.80 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 3.87% to 1,178.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 2081 to 413 and 102 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2727 fell and 1078 advanced, while 88 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 9.43% to 13.12.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.11% or 2.85 to $2,666.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.20% or 1.54 to hit $71.64 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.02% or 1.49 to trade at $75.39 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 83.97, while EUR/INR fell 0.04% to 92.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 101.67.
