Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.16%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF), which rose 4.38% or 150.10 points to trade at 3,574.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 3.61% or 265.60 points to end at 7,631.10 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 2.14% or 39.50 points to 1,888.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which fell 3.54% or 159.50 points to trade at 4,346.15 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) declined 3.16% or 57.25 points to end at 1,756.50 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was down 3.09% or 60.40 points to 1,892.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 3.36% to 7,610.90, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 1.93% to settle at 1,884.10 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which gained 1.61% to close at 2,586.80.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 3.46% to 4,348.00 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 3.04% to settle at 1,893.35 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.94% to 1,603.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1760 to 761 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2315 fell and 1474 advanced, while 103 ended unchanged.
Shares in Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF) rose to all time highs; up 4.38% or 150.10 to 3,574.70.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.55% to 13.41.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.45% or 11.70 to $2,604.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.20% or 0.84 to hit $69.12 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.17% or 0.86 to trade at $72.84 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 83.69, while EUR/INR rose 0.08% to 93.20.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 100.41.
